§ 8-436. Registration; identification badge.

  • (a)

    A person who engages in publication solicitation and who goes personally from door to door or in a public place shall first register with the designated city official, as so designated in writing by the city manager, giving the following information:

    (1)

    Name of registrant and residence address;

    (2)

    Name and address of organization (if any) employing registrant;

    (3)

    Names or description of publications to be sold or for which solicitation is to be made;

    (4)

    Date solicitations or sales are to commence and cease;

    (5)

    Name and address of all persons engaged in the solicitation, together with two full-face, color photographs of the applicant, two inches square;

    (6)

    Whether or not the applicant, agent or employee has ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, and, if the applicant has been so convicted, state the nature of the offense and the punishment or penalty assessed thereof;

    (7)

    An authorization to conduct a criminal background check on the applicant, agent or employee; and

    (8)

    The permit and investigation fees as provided in this division.

    (b)

    Failure to provide a complete and thorough application or the falsification of any part of the application shall be grounds for the denial or revocation of a license.

    (c)

    The permit and registration expires six months from issuance. If a change occurs in any of the information submitted with the registration, the person or organization shall notify the city of the change.
